FBC ADVANTAGE OVER CHAIN GRATE STOKER BOILER

FBC( FLUIDIZED BED COMBUSTION) boiler have great advantage over mechanical chain grate Stoker fired boiler. We discussed about the merits of FBC boiler during operation.

1.Reduction in boiler size :-
in FBC boiler bed coil are installed so the more temperature gain from the fuel combustion and other side mechanical chain grate boiler no bed coils are there so high heat transfer rate over a small heat transfer are immersed in the bed result in overall size reduction of the boiler.

2.Ability to burn fines :-
In FBC boiler coal contain fines below 6 mm can be brunt efficiently which is very difficult to achieve in conventional type firing system.

3.Easier ash removal – no clinker formation:-
In FBC boiler furnace temperature is near about 750 – 900 degree Celsius, even coal of low ash fusion temperature can be brunt without clinker formation. Ash removal is easier as the ash flow like liquid from the combustion chamber. So less manpower is required for ash handling.

4.Pollution control:.-
In FBC boiler so2 formation can be greatly minimizing by addition of limestone or dolomite for higher sulphur coal contains 3% limestone is required for every 1% sulphur in the coal feed. Low combustion temperature eliminate NOx formation.

5.High efficiency :-
Fbc boiler can brun fuel with a combustion efficiency of over 95% irrespective of ash content. Fbc boiler can operate with overall efficiency of 84% .

6.Fast response rate against load fluctuations:-
Due to high furnace temperature inherent high thermal storage characteristic can easily absorbed fluctuations in fuel feed rates.

7.High reliability:-
In FBC boiler bed no moving part is available in the combustion zone result in a higher degree to reliability and low maintenance cost.

8.Reduced maintenance:-
Routine overhaul are infrequent and high efficiency is maintained for long periods.

9.Provision of automatic ignition system:-
Control system using microprocessor and automatic ignition equipment give excellent control with minimum manual supervision.

10.Provisions of automatic coal and ash handling system:-
Automatic system for coal and ash handling can be incorporated, making the plant easy to operation comparable to oil and gas fired installation.
